By J E Solomon
Brought up in a home smoke-free
Where I lived each day
Till after my 22nd birthday
I’ve been lucky to remain smoke-free
And to enjoy a life without smoking.
Resentful of things sacrilegious
From childhood
Into adulthood
I’m inclined to be religious
And I acknowledge the power of God.
Inspired easily by things divine
Perhaps from birth
And likely till death
I feel a strong affinity with the divine
And a yearning toward the mystical.
Welcomed everywhere by everyone
Both male
And female
It makes my heart open to accept anyone
Regardless of race, color, faith or creed.
Somehow, I’ve one main weakness
Perhaps detestable
Or, maybe, acceptable
And not even considered a weakness
It’s a zero-tolerance for malice and treachery
