Last month, under the article headed “Why Libya? Not Another War Please” I had the audacity to suggest, that the mainstream Western media’s approach to the Libyan anti-government protests, and calls for international intervention were all being made with malicious intent and questioned whether it wasn’t about who has oil and who does not have oil. It really wasn’t about democracy.
At last, a Massachusetts Lawmaker, and former chairman of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, is reported to have told MSNBC, “that a primary reason for intervention was oil” (emphasis mine).
Massachusetts Democrat, Rep. Ed Markey alleged that “the U.S. military intervention in Libya is underway because our country is too dependent on foreign oil.”
The report, filed by David Hope and published by “ONLINE Journal” can be accessed at the link below.
Rep. Markey was quoted as saying that “we’re in Libya because of oil,” and was of the opinion that, the nuclear crisis in Japan and the Libya war have both once again highlighted the need for the United States to have a renewable energy agenda going forward.
The relentless attacks are ongoing and only God knows how many innocent lives are being destroyed and how many essential services are being adversely affected all in the name of freedom and redemption. Meanwhile the stock market is also being hit hardly as a result of the war and retirement/personal investments of many hardworking people across the globe are seeing a steady decline.
Is Representative Ed Markey the only lawmaker fearless enough to speak out? Heaven help us all!
