Akosua Akyeampong is a Ghanaian-American woman currently serving in the United States Army. She has shown a remarkable endurance capacity as a tough woman, treading a path that traditionally has been the preserve of men of courage.
Akosua was born in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana to Madam Akua Boakyewah, a popular trader and a native of Koforidua. Her late father, Mr Yaw Akyeampong, was a Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Headquarters of the Ghana Police Force. He was a native of Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
Akosua is the youngest of seven children, six girls and a boy. She attended the St Louis Secondary School in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital in Ghana.
Akosua Akyeampong has been with the US military for eight years. She served in Irag and was in Germany for two postings. She is presently on a one year posting in South Korea.
