By J E Solomon
He beckons to me every time
Ready to walk with me any time
But the seductions of earthly life
Often cause me to drift away
In a silly kind of way
Things worldly
and unworthy of His presence.
Many times I try to play smart
But, He, knowing my innermost heart
He would forgive my silly ways
Aware that I do love Him more
In a manner so deep and pure
Not as worldly
but worthy of His presence.
Nothing has this world to offer
That will be satisfying forever
The more we have the more we desire
Sometimes of things we hardly use
But I know I stand to lose
By choosing the material world
over things worthy of His presence.
Wealth have some people greedily desired
Even fraudulently and shamlessly acquired
And thus became filthily rich
But in the end had met with shame
And finally lost all of their fame
Over riches worldly
and unworthy of His presence.
Even King Solomon of Biblical history
In spite of his riches and all the glory
Came to this one realization
About the futility of earthly treasures
And he also decried physical pleasures
All simply as meaningless
and unworthy of His presence.
