America, the greatest nation on earth
The once revered policeman of the world
Fell into the hands of an administration
Led by a George and a Dick

George was loved and admired
As much as the older George before him
He was known to be a man of God
And thought to be ordained by God
To rule over the greatest nation on earth
And, as such, attract blessings from above
But alas! That was not to be
9-11, a most dastardly act of man
Conceived by men full of hate and resentment
Was unleashed on American soil
Thirty hundred and more of her children perished
While the world watched in anguish
It also brought down the enviable twin towers –
The tallest buildings in the whole world

America, with her slogan: “In God We Trust”
Somehow, ignored God’s message –
“Vengeance is mine, I’ll repay”
And instead, decided to seek own vengeance
Bombs and rockets eagerly assembled
Direct flights to Afghanistan began
But while the mission was yet to be accomplished
New flights to Irag also began
The result today – two wars
From which escape seems almost impossible

As if the Heavens were angry with the greatest nation
Katrina came, and with it untold miseries
Wildfires also swept across the dense
Homes and lifetime treasures were lost
Leaving sad memories that still linger
Even at the Beijing Olympics, her bona fide track titles
Fell to that tiny nation called Jamaica
And gosh! Wall Street, the very fulcrum of her economy
Crashed beyond her wildest imagination
Signalling an era of another depression
That will, of course, be linked to
The coming of a George and a Dick.
